For Doli and Russell, the 31st of May 2017 wasn’t just their wedding day; it was an anniversary and a half!
31 years ago, on the 31st May 1986, Doli and Russell were first married. Later divorcing but remaining best pals and raising two fabulous kids, it was inevitable that they’d rekindle their love. And what better way to celebrate than to re-marry each other 31 years later on the same date of 31st May?
Whether it was because they’d done it once before, or whether it’s because they’re just that sort of amazingly chilled out couple, the day was so relaxed I could nearly have melted. It was perfect! After a family brunch together Doli came to Nonsuch Mansion with her daughter to get ready while the boys headed for a quick trim.
Reuniting just before the ceremony to marvel at how lovely they all turned out (‘you scrub up well!’), the wonderfully intimate ceremony began. And after the formalities, it was time for the party to begin.
From the very start, Doli and Russell were adamant that their wedding would be as much about their guests as it was about themselves; they just wanted to treat everyone and enjoy the day with their most loved friends and family. And they did just that!
A gorgeous world-fusion meal followed canapés and champers on the lawn, followed by a glorious waltz as their first dance, and before an evening of a jam-packed dance floor – just the way it should be!
Doli, Russell, I’m so chuffed that my parents pimped me out to you as a photographer and you chose to let me come along to your wonderful day. It was an absolute pleasure!
And while you wait for the full set, here are a few of my favourites from the day to whet your appetite… xxx
